It produces a sharpening of the senses and an effective stimulation, provoking extraversion and facilitating the expression of feelings. Some of the effects may range from some hilarity, disinhibition or talkativeness. Like most hallucinogenic drugs, the effect will depend mainly on the mood of the person, the environment, the dosage, etc. It can also vary from person to person. The effects at the physical level go through sensitivity to light, lethargy, euphoria, intoxication, sometimes nausea and headache.[10] The effects of psilocin and psilocin can vary from one person to another.
Psilocin and psilocybin have a chemical structure very similar to the brain factor serotonin. The two mushroom alkaloids, like LSD, block the effects of serotonin in pharmacological experiments in different organs. Other pharmacological properties of psilocin and psilocybin are similar to those of LSD. The main difference is the amount active in animal and human experiments. The average active dose of psilocin and psilocybin in humans starts at 10 mg; accordingly, these two substances are 100 times less active than LSD, of which 0.1 mg constitutes a rather strong dose. Moreover, the effects of mushroom alkaloids last between 4 and 6 hours only, much less than the effects of LSD (8 to 12 hours).
